Make Flexible Hours Work

Flexible hours, along with telework, will be a cornerstone of most flexible work strategies.  

Whether it's small, periodic shifts in start and stop times, or a formal change in schedule, flexible hours can help people manage their lives and leaders run their businesses better and smarter in a 24/7 economy.  

For example, employees are able to get to the gym, care for their loved ones, and meet the plumber, while employers can stagger schedules to expand coverage of global clients and not have to pay overtime.  

In some ways, flexible hours are the simplest type of work flexibility to implement and manage. The same amount of time is available to get the job done, and for the most part, employees and managers work together in the same office.  

However, success does require clear expectations and support to ensure seamless:

  • Communication
  • Collaboration
  • Coordination
